Hira School is a small school about 15km North of nelson.
We have 4 classrooms and the roll varies between 90 and 100 children.
Room 2 has 20 children who come from the rural area.
This year we have planted up an organic garden to compliment and use our school wormery and compost bins.
The children have enjoyed learning about what constitutes good soil, how compost is important for the garden and the life cycle of worms, butterflies and plants.
We will be picking produce from our garden to celebrate Matariki at the end of June.
